FOR ROCKY AND MOLLY - OUR BABIES

I can't seem to write a tribute to them separately. Where ever Rocky was Molly was right behind and vice-versa. When Rocky was 5 years old, Molly joined our family. One look at Molly and Rocky was in love. He kissed her that day and every day after til his life ended. On Valentines Day 1991 (how appropriate) Molly gave birth to 5 beautiful, healthy pups.
We were the voice of Rocky & Molly. Those who know us know the bond we had with our two babies.

Rocky 10/04/85 - 10/19/99

Rocky, at 14 years old, had been totally blind for several years, but he did manage to get around very well until he went deaf. At that point, he started to become very confused and walked into everything. He seemed afraid to move and he slept 95% of the time. The time came, the time all pet owners dread. The time to say I love you and that is why I must let you go.
I could write a book on Rocky. We had a thousand laughs with Rocky. He was quite a character. Argumentative and yet lovable all at the same time. I will just try to capture his greatest moments.

  • Sitting on a kitchen chair to join us for coffee.
  • Playing the take your paws off the table game (You loved it).
  • Playing catch - especially when papa would throw 2 balls (you would try to make room on the other side of your mouth).
  • Papa, me & you dancing together.
  • Loving car rides (as long as you could sit up front).
  • Walks in the park and rolling around on the grass.
  • Catching Fred (our cockertail) and bringing him to us.
  • Stealing spaghetti from the plate (thinking we didn't see).
  • Staring out the window until we came home.
  • Sitting with papa on the easy chair every night for your entire life (papa misses that a lot).
  • Jumping into the bed before us and pretending you were sleeping so that we might let you stay (we know you were fibbing).
  • Chasing the newsboy down the steps.
  • How the smell of chocolate would get you up from a sleep.
  • Your favorite things - ham, puppy pepperoni, watermelon, and roast beef.
  • How you fell in love with Molly 10 years ago and never stopped loving her. Your constant companion.
Thank you Rocky for a wonderful 14 years.
There could never be another you.

Molly 04/16/90 - 05/17/00

Oh my beautiful, wonderful Molly. With no warning you left us on May 17, 2000. You left us too soon. After Rock's passing, we tried to give Molly our undivided attention. Playing with her became our main objective. She loved it, but after the playing was over, sadness could be seen on her beautiful face. Her companion of 10 years was gone and even though Molly loved us so much, nothing seemed the same. Here are your finest moments.

  • Taking you home from the pet store with your pink bow.
  • How you blinked your long beautiful eye lashes whenever we spoke to you (your nickname was blinky).
  • When you heard your name or even our voice you would wag your tail until you couldn't stand it anymore and would come over for a pat on the head and a kiss.
  • How you always let us know what you wanted (when you warm, you would go to the AC; when you wanted your treat, you'd go to the closet; when you wanted your bed cover washed, you would get a piece of dirty laundry and place it in your bed).
  • How you would sing a song when we asked.
  • How you cried when the phone rang.
  • How you loved tug of war (and sometimes wore it around your neck).
  • When Rusty (the cat) would bite you, you would just come over to show us-never hurting the cat.
  • Some of your favorite things included ham, puppy pepperoni, grapes, watermelon, mommies Christmas cookies, and general tso's chicken (not spicy).
  • I will miss your loving welcome to everyone in the morning. You never woke us, but you were so happy when we got up.

You were a pure joy to have. Always obedient and always wanting to please-and you always did. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Thank you for a wonderful 10 years.
